The second and final week of the Dream To Achieve Basketball Camp came to an end with an incredible last two days.
Wednesday featured a workshop at the state of the art RKC science center led by Bard Biology Professor Felicia Keesing. Students learned how to extract DNA from an assortment of fruits, including blueberries and strawberries. Students also enjoyed an educational and interactive trip to the Bard Farm. Games were especially competitive as teams jockeyed for playoff position in both leagues. Campers of the day were Chris Gardener and George DeJesus.
On Friday, the students took part in a scavenger hunt around the beautiful Bard campus. Each group was equipped with a campus map and had to find various clues hidden throughout the school. Eventually, each of the three groups made their way back to the gym! There, the playoffs and finals kicked off in both leagues. CIT (rising Hudson Sr) Ronnie Mayhew’s team took the title in her division, led by the strong play of Jada Alert.
In the other division. CIT (rising Hudson Sr) Malcom Scott’s team made a Cinderella run for the 4 seed to claim their league’s championship. Nytrell Franklin played especially well down the stretch. Campers of the day were Danielle McDonald and Jared Neal. Bryant Barrientos won camper of the week for his amazing attitude and the fact that he made positive contributions no matter the setting throughout the week.
